Marlowe
Marlowe is the latest film from Irish director Neil Jordan, starring Liam Neeson as the fictional private detective Philip Marlowe created by Raymond Chandler. Set in 1939 in Los Angeles the film was shot in Barcelona and Dublin. Working with Neil Jordan for the first time, Editor Mick Mahon was based at Screen Scene for the duration of the shoot and edit.
All elements of the sound, picture and vfx were finished at Screen Scene & Ardmore Sound. For the colour grading we installed a 4K DCI projector on the Main Stage in Ardmore Sound, Screen Scene Colourist, Donal O’Kane, assisted by Fiona Coleman worked with Cinematographer, Xavi Giménez for 3 weeks to create rich visual palette that captures the mood and atmosphere of the film.
SSVFX’s, Supervisor, Ed Bruce and Producer Johnni Kha delivered 70 shots including a fully CG establishing shot of Los Angeles in the 1930’s, matte paintings, set extensions and modern-day clean-ups.
Sound Designer and Mixer Steve Fanagan worked at Ardmore Sound to create the final sound mix that brings the world of Philip Marlowe to life, while Online Editor, Warren Dowling completed the finishing of the film which was delivered in HDR, SDR and for cinema.
