‘First Dates Ireland’ restaurant closes its doors on Season 6

Four members of the restaurant staff of First Dates

Last night we bid adieu once more to the First Dates restaurant as its sixth season wrapped up on RTÉ Two.

Since 2016, the Irish edition of the popular reality series has seen single hopefuls from all across the country come to the Gibson Hotel for a real blind date and a shot at love. Over 20 cameras rigged throughout the restaurant record the action and, at the end of the date, daters decide whether there’s a spark or if they’ll just stay friends.

This year, the restaurant looks a little different as daters are kept socially distant in line with Covid-19 regulations. However, as the last few weeks have shown, this has done nothing to diminish the awkward banter, social faux pas, and genuine connections the series is known for.

While Season 6 has now come to a close, get your fix of First Dates action with a Best Of episode airing next Thursday at 9:30pm on RTÉ Two. Or catch up with the series on the RTÉ Player.

First Dates Ireland is produced by COCO Content for RTÉ. The final edit is produced here at Screen Scene with Saoirse Finnegan Sheridan and Aishling Vesey serving as post production supervisors. The conform is finished by Sam Connor and Warren Dowling handles the online edit. Steve McGrath is the mixer for the series.
