Flora and Son is a comedy-drama from Irish filmmaker John Carney. After its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, it went on to a theatrical release in September 2023 before being acquired by Apple TV+, where it is now available to stream.
Flora and Son follows Flora (Eve Hewson), a single mother living in Dublin who is struggling to connect with her teenage son. In an attempt to bridge the growing emotional distance between them, she gives him a second-hand acoustic guitar, sparking an unexpected journey into music, songwriting, and self-expression. As both mother and son find their own voices, they begin to confront their frustrations, past mistakes, and the possibility of rebuilding their relationship in a more honest and meaningful way.
